We kept added sugars out of this smoothie with a combination of natural source stevia and the intrinsic sweetness of fruit. Of course, white kidney beans are the secret ingredient! They add fibre and give the smoothie a nice thickness.

  1. In blender, combine 1 cup (250 mL) water, the bananas, frozen fruit, beans, yogurt, lemon juice and stevia; blend on low speed for 10 seconds. Scrape down sides if needed. Increase speed to high, blend until smooth, about 1 minute. Add additional water if necessary until desired consistency. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 6 hours.
